Ensemble Volcanic Ash is a braiding together of thirty+ years of jazz and classical study and decades playing on the DC jazz and new music scene. Released on Cuneiform Records on July 29th, Janel is joined by a stellar band including DC greats Luke Stewart bass, Anthony Pirog guitar, Kim Sator harp, Brian Settles tenor, Sarah Hughes alto, Larry Ferguson drums and Janel on cello. The CD includes a booklet of Janel’s woven portraits of each player and the shimmering cover.
